Our approach is to meet with you at your home in order to clearly identify your needs and present lifestyles with the objective of finding a similar residence which will provide a comfortable and secure environment with the appropriate services. During this meeting the advisor will help you establish your monthly budget, this will allow you to know the approximate maximum rent you can afford each month. To do so you will need to calculate your total net income and subtract your current expenses not included in your lease (for example : telephone, television, clothing, activities and medication).
This must absolutely reflect the maximum amount, in case you might have forgotten to calculate certain expenses or in the event that your situation would change along the way resulting in the need for additional services. By establishing your budget it gives you an indicator of an amount for your monthly lease which should not be exceeded. It is always preferable to also have some leeway.

- What is included in this monthly cost (electricity, telephone, cable, meals, healthcare,etc.?
- Do they have medical assistance 24 hours per day?
- Do any professionals work at the residence : doctors, nurses, auxiliary nurses, beneficiary attendants, etc.?
- What is the average age of a resident?
- What is the policy in case of loss of autonomy or death?
- Is the residence certified by the Quebec Health and Social Services agencies?
- Are residents happy living here? Do not hesitate to aske them questions.

SIGNING THE LEASE
When signing the lease you should receive the following :
- A list of the services included in the monthly lease;
- Information on the healthcare services, the prices and the possible agreement with the CLSC in regards to the free services;
- All rules and regulations of the residence (for example, the rules in regards to smoking or the presence of domestic animals, code of ethics and the complaints procedure);
- The procedure concerning the tax credit;
- All the terms concerning a lease cancellation.
It is your right to request this information if you have not received it. Before signing your lease, the final part of our approach is to go over the documents you have received to make sure they correspond exactly to your needs.
